The Nokia 6233 is the successor to the very popular 6230i. It retains the same classic bar form 
factor, but ups the ante in the specifications department. Sporting a 2 megapixel camera, a QVGA (320×240 pixel) resolution display, and stereo speakers, the Nokia 6233 is set to take the market by storm. It is a dual mode phone, featuring WCDMA/GSM operation, and tri-band GSM coverage (GSM 900/1800/1900MHz and WCDMA 2100MHz networks). The 6233 is capable of switching automatically between bands and modes. This review will be about the Nokia 6233’s GSM capabilities, as I still have no access to 3G networks.
The 6233 is aimed at business users. There are no fancy designs, no swiveling keypads, nothing that stands out at all. It is designed to look serious, and with a casing made of stainless steel and soft rubber compound, the Nokia 6233 is definitely top quality. The front is surrounded by chrome, and the camera lens is situated in the stainless steel band around the back. The antenna and battery covers are both wrapped in soft touch rubber. This mixture of materials is cool, and it nudges the 6233 up a few ranks in class. Our review unit is clad in black and it is solidly built. There were no creaks or squeaks found anywhere at all.
On the front, the 5-way navigational d-pad is flanked by both the left and right soft keys and the call and end keys. The cyan backlit keypad has a soft tactile feel to it, and the keys do not wobble about like the ones on the 6230 and 6230i. Each row of numeric keys is separated by a thin strip of chrome.
