After an hour shooting the breeze with LG and fiddling with the KE850, or ‘Prada Phone’ as I’m sure it will become known, I have to
say yes. The reason: it’s a phone, it’s a phone, it’s a phone. I say this because ever since pictures were leaked onto the web and even after its subsequent unveiling the device has been lauded as everything from a smartphone to an iPhone beater. Of course this is understandable – after all the the similarities (both in physicality and timing) between the KE850 and iPhone are obvious to all – but when in hand one thing becomes blatently apparent: it’s just a phone, a stylish, sexy, well thought out, well featured phone… but it is just a phone.
That means this is no portable office, there’s no 3G, no mass of onboard memory and no Qwerty thumb board. Instead what you have is easily the sexiest candy bar on the market and a successor to the Chocolate, not the HTC TyTN. At 98.8 x 54 x 12mm and just 85g it is slimmer than both the Chocolate and the Shine, a mere 2g heavier than the former and a massive 30g lighter than the latter.
