My ongoing attempt to keep up with Samsung’s ever-growing catalogue of digital cameras is looking ever more like the labour of Sysiphus. The company’s vast range now includes over 40 different models, ranging from high-spec digital SLRs co-developed with Pentax, to sub-£80 plastic compacts sold in supermarkets.

Since Samsung introduced its premium NV (New Vision) range of high-spec digital compact cameras in the summer of 2006, the company’s fortunes in the digital camera market have dramatically improved, and looking at the NV8 it’s easy to see why.

Samsung i7 Review

It’s taken me some time to get to play with the i7 but it’s worth a look since it is a very interesting camera indeed, or rather, it’s a very interesting multimedia device. And anyone familiar with Samsung camera products will know the company is a master at throwing features at “the wall” and seeing […]

Samsung S85 Review
October 16th, 2007 · Comments Off
Over the past few weeks I’ve reviewed a couple of good sub-£100 budget compacts, namely the Nikon CoolPix L11 and the Pentax Optio E40. I hope this isn’t becoming a habit, because I’ve got another one today, in the shape of the new Samsung S85.I have been mostly impressed by Samsung’s digital cameras over the […]

Samsung NV11 Review

Traditionally, these were the classic camera producers like Canon, Nikon, Olympus etc., nowadays brands like Panasonic […]

After enjoying something of a renaissance for its compact camera range, Samsung has also found a way into the digital SLR market by re-badging a series of Pentax models. A Samsung representative has assured me that the company will soon launch a DSLR of its own original design, but in the meantime the re-badging tactic […]

Samsung NV3 Review
November 4th, 2006 · Comments Off
With the NV3, Samsung has combined a seven-megapixel digital camera and a personal media player into one device. Although we had some trepidation before testing this latest experiment in convergence—remember the Kodak MC3?—the stylish NV3 performed a variety of tasks with surprisingly good results.
Samsung claims the design of the NV3 came from two years of […]

The Samsung premium S series line of digital cameras has a brand new member amongst them, the seven mega-pixel Digimax S700 which not only has the same imitable style but also the same functionality associated with the famous S series. Samsungs 10 Megapixel Camera
July 7th, 2006 · Comments Off
The new Samsung NV10 has a slim metal body, anti-shake compensation, and boasts 10-megapixel resolution. But what’s novel about this camera is the inordinate number of buttons surrounding its 2.5-inch LCD.
The back of the NV10 looks odd at first glance. Rather than having the typical buttons and a four-position dial, the NV10 has buttons galore–a […]
